Phase 1
Inspired by the story of Arachne, after leafing through my beat-up mythology book - I put a Black Widow & her victim on paper.
A spider has 8 limbs. So I divided the 8 limbs equally, my Black Widow, being half-human & half-spider. I drew her so she has 4 human arms & 4 spider legs.
Her victim has dead staring eyes. I chose to give him the expression as one being in a trance rather than the look of horror. |
Phase 2
Outlined figures in ink. |
Phase 3
Added more thread-like bonds around the Black Widow & her victim. |
Phase 4
Added cave rock formations below the figures. This gives the impression of the two figures being suspended high up in a dark cave.
|
Phase 5
Rendered rock formations. |
Phase 6
Rendered body, head & hair of victim. |
Phase 7
Rendered upper torso, head & hair of Black Widow. |
Phase 8
Rendered lower (spider) half of Black Widow's body.
Added texture to all thread-like bonds. |
Phase 9
Added semi-solid rounded backround.
Added Gothic rose & skull decorations. |
Phase 10
Rendered background with pointillist technique, starting from the solid black outline then gradually fading into white into the center. |
Phase 11
Rendered roses & skulls.
Finished. |
